Hey, y'all! Since school has started back and it's been unbearably hot around here lately, I am sooo ready for fall! Bring on the cooler weather, pumpkin everything, boots and scarves...give me all the fall! I was so inspired by my longing for fall recently that I wrote an original poem about the season. Today I'm showing you how I used some fabulous heat transfer vinyl from Expressions Vinyl to create a festive fall pillow featuring my poem. As usual, I'm sharing the free cut file with you so that you can create your own, AND at the end of the post, I'm telling you all about how you can vote (for me I hope) and enter to win a prize over at the Expressions Vinyl Blog.
Yep, that's a lot of fabulosity happening in one post, so let's get started.
To make your own DIY Fall Poem Pillow, you'll need a few supplies. I'm linking to the supplies below using affiliate links, which means that if you purchase a product via one of my links, a small amount of the purchase price goes to me without any extra charge to you. (Thanks for supporting my blog!)
Supplies:
First you need the fall poem cute file.
***Please note that the poem in the file is an original poem written by me and, as usual, all free cut files on my blog are for personal use only. You may not claim the files as your own or use them to create products to sell.***
Once you download the file, open it in Silhouette Studio. If you would like to cut different lines of the poem from different types of HTV like I did, you will need to ungroup the design and arrange the pieces you want to be the same color together. Then mirror the design, and cut it from heat transfer vinyl using your Silhouette Cameo.
Tip: If you don't like to waste vinyl like me, you can fill the cut area with other designs too. (That's why there's a unicorn and a monogram and other stuff in the photo above.) Once your image is cut, weed the excess material from around the design. I love to use a weeding tool for this. It makes the process so much easier!
When the design is weeded, arrange it on your pillow cover and, following the heat transfer vinyl directions found on the Expressions Vinyl website, iron the design to adhere it to the cloth. And just like that, you'll have an awesome fall pillow cover!
Stuff the pillow cover with an insert and add it to your fall decor.
I seriously love how this pillow turned out! The orange EasyWeed Electric Heat Transfer Vinyl is fabulously reflective, and the gold confetti Glitter Heat Transfer Vinyl is the perfect shade of gold. When the light hits the design, it's a sight to behold! My only wish is that I had a black and white buffalo check pillow cover to put the same design on in the same color scheme. I think that would be so pretty!
Of course, now I want to make some art using the fall poem cut file!
What will you create with the cut file?
Speaking of creating, several other bloggers have also created projects featuring heat transfer vinyl.
You can find all the projects over at the Expressions Vinyl Blog, and you can vote for your favorite! When you vote using the Rafflecopter, you will be entered to win an awesome prize from Expressions Vinyl! Voting ends September 7th at midnight, so hurry over there now and vote for #1 please! Happy crafting!
