DIY Gift Card Holders with Free Silhouette Cut Files
Hey, y'all! I honestly cannot believe it's December already. It's time to start thinking more seriously about gifts for the holiday season. I'm sure some of you are totally ahead of the game and have already finished shopping. Me? Not so much. I have purchased a few gifts, but I have a lot more to find. I always give gift cards to a few people on my list, and this makes gift giving easier. Unfortunately, most gift cards aren't that cute. I have a remedy for that: DIY gift card holders. And I'm gifting YOU the free Silhouette cut files for two different styles of card holders.
The first step to creating your own gift card holders is downloading the free cut files {HERE}. Once you have downloaded the file, open it in your Silhouette program. Then use your Silhouette to cut the gift card holders.
Weed the excess paper from your cut design and gather a few supplies to put it together.
You'll need a scrap sheet of paper, washi tape, a glue stick, and scissors. I recommend a glue runner as well, but that's optional. Use washi tape to cover a section of your scrap paper large enough to cover the cut out on the card.
Use the glue stick to adhere the washi tape covered paper behind the cut out. Then use the glue stick or glue runner to finish the assembly. Do so by first folding up the bottom flap. Cover it with adhesive. Fold in the small right flap. Cover the edge of the flap with adhesive. Cover the inside edge of the large left flap with adhesive. Fold it over the short side and press firmly. Then all that's left is sticking a gift card into the freshly-made holder.
The fun thing about the cut outs on the gift card holders is that you can put patterned scrapbook paper or any washi tape your heart desires behind them. Sure, these are perfect for your Christmas gifting, but they could easily be used for any occasion. Whatever the occasion, I hope these make your plain gift cards a little prettier.
