Hey, y'all! Christmas is quickly approaching, and I have been hard at work crafting for what is by far my favorite holiday. There is nothing like listening to Christmas music while I craft away like one of Santa's elves. :) One of my latest projects is this Reindeer Silhouette Embroidery Hoop Art.
A while back, my friends from The Hair Bow Company sent me some Christmas-y goodies from their online store. I created a couple of projects for their blog, and this is one of them. (I originally posted this project {HERE} last week.) It's really easy to create your own Christmas hoop art.
First, trace your reindeer silhouette (I found mine through a Google search) on the back of the transfer paper.
Cut around the silhouette. (Don't cut on the lines yet. You'll do that later.)
Iron the transfer paper onto your green fabric according to the manufacturer's directions.
Cut out your silhouette.
Cut a circle of white fabric large enough to fit inside your embroidery hoop without slipping out and iron your silhouette onto the white fabric following the manufacturer's directions.
Place the fabric over the bottom piece of the embroidery hoop. Place the top piece over that and stretch the fabric while tightening the screw at the top of the hoop. Trim the excess fabric from around the hoop. (I always leave enough to hot glue around the back edge of the hoop to ensure the fabric never slips out.)
Use hot glue to secure your pretty ribbon to the outside edge of your hoop. Use the glue to secure your flower to the hoop, along with your rhinestones placed to look like a necklace. Then your festive hoop is complete!
I love the traditional colors of the hoop.
And the addition of the rhinestone necklace, chevron ribbon, and red flower modernize what could be an otherwise serious piece of hoop art. Wouldn't it be cute to make a little grouping of embroidery hoop art on a wall for the Christmas season? What about a tree silhouette covered with rhinestone buttons as ornaments? The possibilities are endless!
Disclaimer: While I was given supplies for this craft from The Hair Bow Company, all opinions in this post are completely mine. For more details, see the "Fine Print" tab at the top of the blog.
I always love what you make, your projects and posts are great. Just love how this looks and has so many possibilities to add to. Would be so adorable with grouping in an entry way. The reindeer with necklace and hair bow is perfect. Sure glad you shared this project.
I'm crazy about how you made this! No fancy machine needed, just simple supplies. I love the colors you used and the added bow and necklace are adorable! What a fun Christmas craft.
Thank you for your nice comment on my fairytale picture! When I came over to take a look at your stuff, I totally fell in love with this! I always thought that it must be embroidery in an embroidery hoop but this is so cute and easy!
This is the cutest thing ever. Love the necklace! I would love it if you shared this with us at the Handmade Holiday Link Party! http://persialou.blogspot.com/2013/11/handmade-holiday-link-party.html :)
